This year we have chosen The Paul Strank Charitable Trust and Shooting Star Children's Hospices in particular to buy:-
Cold blankets and cuddle cots
In some circumstances when parents request it, SSC can provide them with the use of a cold blanket, also called a cuddle blanket, or cuddle cot. This is a device that chills a mattress or crib, allowing the body of a child who has died to be preserved so that parents can spend extra hours or days with them. This is especially important if parents would prefer a child to be with them at home in their final days, rather than at one of our hospices or a hospital.

have over the years grown strong bonds with the local community. We have organised and participated in un-countable charity related events and activities benefiting those in need doing everything from running fundays, and assisting with the local guilds village fairs to attempting world records and jumping out of planes. We work in close partnership with local councils and community groups to do our utmost to raise money and awareness where it’s needed most and we provide a platform with our charity work to unify the local community behind a common cause to allow us as one to express our compassion and generosity by working together to better other people’s lives.

Shooting Star Childrens Hospices ... are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.
Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, we are here to make every moment count. We support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
Our bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Our care service includes short breaks at our two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford), Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family.
It costs £10 million a year just to maintain our current level of care. Around 10% of that income comes from government funding, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. What’s more, we know there are many more families desperate for our vital support, so it’s crucial we raise more funds to provide more care.
